The FCAT SSS measures student achievement in Reading and Mathematics (Grades 3-10) and Science (Grades 5, 8, and 10) by assessing student progress on benchmarks identified in the Sunshine State Standards. The "FCAT Test Item and Performance Task Specifications describe the test items and performance tasks found in the FCAT assessments. The specifications are guidelines for item writers and reviewers. They are also a source of information about FCAT for educators and the general public. Six separate documents provide specifications for FCAT Reading and Mathematics, Grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-10. Three separate documents provide specifications for FCAT Science, Grades 5, 8, and 10.
