Dear Students and Parents:

On behalf of our faculty and staff, allow me to welcome you to Miami Coral Park Senior High School for the 2009-2010 school year. Given the outstanding accomplishments of our school during the past year, we have selected a most appropriate theme for this academic calendar: “Ram Pride: Selflessness of Purpose!”

As principal of Miami Coral Park Senior High School, I can assure you that our school prides itself in providing a challenging and diverse range of academic programs for our students. For example, the stature of the school’s mathematics and science departments and the Engineering Magnet program are consistently recognized nationally for their excellence. Additionally, the school's twenty-five Advanced Placement courses have been widely recognized by the College Board and are considered to be among the best in the Miami-Dade school district. Our academic prestige has paved the way for our graduates to be accepted into the finest universities and post-secondary programs in America.

This year, Miami Coral Park Senior High School joins approximately 362 M-DCPS schools as a “Title I” school which affords us a unique opportunity to advance student achievement in Reading, Mathematics, Writing and Science using targeted Federal revenue. During the past three years, we have established five academies as part of the secondary school reform initiative. Students now have the opportunity to choose participation in career academies which include Arts and Entertainment, Engineering and Construction, Business, Communications and Liberal Studies. As one of the district’s most prestigious schools, we are committed to advancing student achievement, academic rigor, and student accountability across the curriculum.

Over the past five years, our school has been the recipient of an extensive capital construction improvement campaign. Three and a half years ago, the school formally dedicated the addition of a $ twenty-five million “state of the art” classroom building. Thereafter, the M-DCPS Office of Capital Improvement launched a comprehensive $ thirteen million construction/renovation project to up-grade the older facility. I am happy report that the project is now complete. This construction initiative brought with it the complete renovation of the school’s auditorium, classrooms, athletic facilities, lighting, and other improvements to important life-safety areas.

As the school year begins, I’m reminded of Miami Coral Park Senior High School’s original motto: "Right Attitude Means Success" (RAMS) which spans almost fifty years of our school’s celebrated history. During the past five decades our tradition and goal has been, and remains today, to enable all RAMS to achieve their full potential and become responsible, competitive, and productive adults upon completion of their high school education.

In the spirit of our vaulted motto, and with a positive attitude, each and every Miami Coral Park Senior High School student will be academically and socially enriched throughout their high school experience. As principal, I am proud to celebrate our school's rich legacy and accomplishments and look forward to providing you with a very productive 2009-2010 school year.

Respectfully,
Dr. Nick JacAngelo
